"The Scarlet Flower" is a Russian take on "Beauty and the Beast", and I saw the English-dubbed version on early morning television as a 6 year old. And I do mean early, 6am Monday thru Friday.
I was the only one awake that early and no one else in the family saw it nor knew what cartoon I was talking about.
This Russian version requires no translation. The action tells you everything you need to know.
This story involves a wealthy merchant who travels the world to find rare gifts for his three daughters. When the merchant finds a beautiful flower on an enchanted island he picks the flower to give to his youngest daughter. His action angers the beast of the island who, in exchange for the flower, demands that the merchant send his daughter to spend the rest of her life with him on the island.
