Here is the original script for Back to the Future.
http://www.scifiscripts.com/scripts/back_to_the_future_original_draft.html
Key differences include:
-Marty is a video bootlegger
-the setting is a medium-sized city, instead of friendly small town Hill Valley
-there is no Delorean
The plot is basically the same, but the little differences are interesting. And the climax is quite different.

That's an odd thing, to have Marty as a video bootlegger. Was bootlegging really a big deal in the mid-80's?
You love this signature.

I'm not sure of the prevalence of bootlegging at the time, but I do know prerecorded tapes were very expensive. Especially as this was written in 1980/81.
Maybe it was to make him seem more of a rebel. Or to fit in with the setting (in the present, the city is run down, with lots of abandoned buildings and boarded up windows.) |

So much difference in the dialogue as well. I have to say, I'm glad the script was re-written.
[offtopic]Now, the Emmerich/Devlin Godzilla movie on the other hand... ...man, they should've stuck with the Jan DeBont script.[/offtopic] You love this signature.

Who's directing?

That looks interesting. Not sure if I would like it. Depends on if it's more technical stuff or just a lot of slobbering talk about how great it was.

Oh how interesting |
