Not Archie Bunker from All in the Family.
Did the character in question have a family. Yes, but only his grandfather was ever regularly shown to my knowledge, he is in a few episodes and dies of a heart attack. His father and grandmother were killed in a car wreck. His mom died of a stroke. His son appeared in one episode. His fiancee is shot in an episode. I don't think other family members were ever shown unless it was a flashback.
