I went with SPAM based on the song, and that I'm from Minnesota, the birthplace of SPAM. I was pleasantly surprised that he got the connection.

You could have also had him sign a ball of twine... being from Minnesota, the meaning would be all the more powerful

Very true! It was an idea that was actually in the running. I was just too lazy to execute something like that. Maybe next time. I sure hope there is a next time.
