Good advice. I was bad and just pre-ordered these guys though. However I did stop myself from getting all four in the set, so maybe that counts for something? I dunno...probably not?

i don't think people really paid attention to it to be honest, rather just to look at it for a brief laugh. you ever notice how when an american video game gets an overseas release the main character has more of a cutesy design? i guess that's japan for ya. this happened with crash bandicoot as well.
