So... I'm thinking that for Christmas I may have my wife pick me up one of these three systems. However, I've done little research on which will be best.

I have demoed several games for the Wii U at Walmart on multiple occasions, but was not THAT impressed.

I have heard the grumblings regarding Xbox One's initial internet connectivity requirements, lack of backwards compatibility, and push for lockouts of used games (which has apparently been resolved?).

I have little to know information on the PS4 other than that which my friend Phil has relayed to me because he has pre-ordered his.

So, what do YOU guys think?

i've got a wii u, but there are only few good titles for it at the moment. i heard that the version it has of assassin's creed 4 looks like the most polished, but i mostly got it for the wind waker HD and posting on the miiverse where you can share your experience with the games you have. you can put your game on standby and the standby point will have a screenshot of the game that you can use for a post, it's pretty neat.

as far as the slow title releases are though, mario kart 8 is still coming out this month

The key is, which one has the most games you want to play?  My rule is, a console must have at least six before I'll get it.  And that is drastically lowered expectations compared to what I grew up with.

I'm not interested in any of the 8th gen consoles.  I've tried.  But console game makers don't seem to care about me any more.

Are the rumors about Xbox One Kinect's camera detecting your heart rate and emotions true?

To my knowledge, there aren't many launch titles for any of the three systems that really stand out to me. Though, last night I watched a trailer for "Titanfall", which comes out in March, that got my attention:

Nintendo Gamecube was the last console I ever bought.

I've always been a PlayStation man, so I might get PS4.

At this point in time, I would have to say it's best to wait a little while before deciding with either the Xbox One or the PS4. As of right now, I have mixed feelings between the two consoles.

It seems like with the Xbox One, Microsoft themselves doesn't even know what they want to include with the system. They started off by enforcing DRM, trying to shove Kinect down our throats by having it be required with the system, and only having an internet connection in order to play the games. Yes, they did remove all these policies... but it seems like with the way Microsoft is constantly changing their policies that there might be other things within the Xbox One that could also piss off gamers. That is why I think it's best to wait and see how the Xbox One plays out before getting it.

The PS4 looks pretty good so far, and I tried their demo of Knack earlier today. However, most of the launch titles that's been announced is already being released on the PS3, and you can upgrade them to the PS4 versions at anytime when you get the system. I would say that if I were to get the PS4, then I would wait until some of the hardcore console exclusive titles are released much like with the Wii U.

I currently own a Wii U and have been playing Pikmin 3. I think the system does have potential, and is not as "incapable" as certain detractors say it is. However, as mentioned before, they do need to get more of their hardcore third party titles released. I think the games that they've been releasing within the past couple months are a good start, including The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3, and upcoming games like Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8. However, they still need to advertise the hell out of the system, and get it out to consumers that Wii U is a new system, and NOT some kind of Gamepad attachment for the Wii. Now that Nintendo has officially discontinued the Wii, then hopefully, they can focus more on their new system.

I was hoping you would chime in on this blue. Thanks for that input. The wife and I had been discussing the virtues of buying the Wii U for a while. I guess I'm wondering what video/movie apps will be available for it (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and if the main menu/interface is user friendly like the Xbox 360's is.

I've read that the Xbox One will allow a user to view live programming. I also wonder how extensive a feature that is, and what channels will be in their lineup.

This just smells like royal crap to me.

Seriously... what was Philips doing with these patents? And how can a company possibly know every patent they may violate with an invention or device? This patent business is getting out of hand, and abused.

If Nintendo really infringed on Philips patent, why the hell did it take them this long to sue them? You would think they would do it right when the Wii was still printing money.

Perhaps Philips is trying to seek revenge on Nintendo after their deal with the CD-I fell through.
