You sure have the magic touch MM. You scored one of the most popular Aesop's Fables episodes, definately one of the funniest. This is the one my favorite cousin would talk in her, "turtle voice", and crack all of us up! Just say, "two for one special". Here's one I remember because this is the episode that breaks with standard english in favor of "hipster vibe circa 1961". And I love the way Gladys turns the tables on Rumpelstiltskin. |

Haha. Thanks. Your cousin sounds cute. Rumpelstiltskin is one slick dude. Who better to voice him that Daws Butler?

So MM, you ready for a rare cartoon filler? From 1960 here is one of the rotating filler segments from, "King Leonardo and His Short Subjects", this one is called "Tooter Turtle". Each episode, Tooter would beg his friend Mr. Wizard the Lizard to cast a spell, allowing Tooter to try a different profession. One episode Tooter wanted to be a police officer, the next a fireman or a doctor. This episode Tooter wants to be a WWI flying ace - a la Snoopy! |

Everyone wants to be a baron. Between Dexter's Laboratory shorts, there were filler cartoons. One was called Dial M For Money, which was about this crime-fighting monkey who was save the world when Dexter wasn't working on an experiment in his lab. And then there's The Justice Friends, which is an animated sitcom of the lives of superhero spoofs. Major Glory, who is a Captain America Parody. The Infraggable Krunk, who's a parody of The Incredible Hulk. And Val Hallen, who's a cross between Thor and Eddie Van Halen. There were some interesting bad guys on The Justice Friends, like this postal worker. I liked how he threw that sharp piece of paper across Major Glory's face. "Ahh!! Bills!" XD "Magic can happen to you."

Ya got me rollin' now MM! Used to spend all my time with Dexter's Laboratory, remember all the clips everyone shared over at RetroJunk? Who was that guy with a "thang" for Dee Dee? Monkey was cool. How about a TV mash-up called, "Monkey and The Brain" - aside from copyrights and Pinky backlash, it could work! I like the way you said it - "Dail M for Money", LOL! Not many live action series had cartoon fillers but "The Red Green Show" had Ranger Gord and in my opinion, Ranger Gord was the most brilliant animated filler on television. Yes, there's Money at rainbow's end. Possum Lodge is always Halloween Ready! |
