I did until I started using Youtube's old embed code and the source tags in the post box. On articles I can't seem to embed at all though.

Embedding in articles should work the exact same way, with using the source code tag button and embed codes.

Will some hotlinked images cause a PHP error? Sometimes I will link a pic that will take me to this confusing PHP error page.

Hmmm. I've not had that happen. If it comes up again, copy the text of it and I'll see if I can figure it out.
