I've actually never seen that.

A little story about when I saw Pet Semetary.   My best friend at the time was the girl who introduced me to everyone when I first moved to the neighborhood.  One night, she told me someone was having people over to watch the movie. So we thought it would be cool to go. After the movie, It was about 1am by the time we decided to go home. The way home included a 5 minute walk through the woods.  Even though neither of us found the movie scary. We both got quite creeped out walking through the dark woods after watching a horror.  So to lighten the mood. We started coming up with all the different ways would would "take out"  any little kids that might show up.    Because of that, the nostalgia I get from watching this movie has very little to do with the movie itself.

I never saw this film. I have the book packed away somewhere, though I really have no interest in reading it (it was gift that a relative thought I would enjoy). Though I wouldn't mind seeing the film given it's Halloween season.

What is the film about? A haunted pet cemetery?

KInda.  It's a cursed pet cemetery where whatever is buried there comes back to life.   A little boy dies in a horrific accident so his father buries him in the cemetery in hopes of him coming back.  Which he does but he's not the boy he used to be.

Alright. So it's basically similar to The Reanimator: humans try to bring the dead back to life but the dead aren't like their living counterparts.

Not really.  The only similarities are someone comes back from the dead.

Re-Animator is a sci-fi comedy horror
Pet Semetary is a thriller.

A little story about my first time seeing it..kind of. I was really little. I'd say 4 or 5. My family was visiting my aunt and uncle in North Carolina. The grown ups and bigger kids had rented movies just for them. I decided to steal a peak from the kitchen, the adults facing away toward the television. As a child, what I saw was Chucky bury a knife into the heal of a man walking down the stair. I freaked out and ran. Hiding myself in the bathroom until I calmed down and felt safe.

Years later I would actually watch Childs Play. I always wondered why that vivid scene of Chucky was never present in any of the films. Even more years later, like three years ago, I finally watched Pet Semetary. There was the scene. Foolish child. It was never Chucky..just some re-animated creepy boy.

I actually used to make the same comparison over that scene.   There is a scene in Child's play where Chucky stabs a guy in the back of the leg with a scapel

It's been ages since I saw this film, but I can recall bits and pieces. I remember feeling really awful for the father. I can only imagine how amplified that feeling would be now that I myself am a father.
