After I saw the first Superman film, I remember briefly having a slight crush on Margot Kidder's Lois Lane. Years later, I had the opportunity to meet her and get my picture taken with her at a convention. It was a pretty cool celebrity encounter for my first ever convention experience.

Are there any fans of these movies around here? I think Superman (1978) still holds up as one of the best superhero origin movies ever made, and Superman II is one of the few sequels I would classify as arguably as good as its predecessor. The following sequels weren't very good, but the first two films in the series are among my very favorite movies of all time. Quote |

Unfortunately Margot has passed away at the age of 69. Farewell Lois Lane. You will be missed.
You love this signature.

So now, the original movie's main stars are dead: Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

Sad news.

Vaporman87 wrote : I can't believe it, either. While we were well into another generation of live-action Superman adventures by the time I first saw it, my first viewing was still sometime in the late '90s, about twenty years ago now. Man, time really does fly. |

What's even more insane is we haven't had another decent Superman movie after all those years.
The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

jkatz wrote : I agree. I do think Superman II was a good movie, but after that one all of the following movies have definitely left a lot to be desired. The last two Reeve movies were far too cheesy, and everything after that was to the opposite extreme. Superman works best as a character when there's just a touch of humor without going overboard and a hopeful tone to the story. I tend to like the TV adaptations of Superman so much more than the movie adaptations for this very reason. |

I bought the Superman movie collection the other day. The 1st and 2nd movies are phenomenal. I'll let you know what I think of the others. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

SM3: Good, but not great. The silliness of the movie could've toned down some. The Clark/Bad Superman idea was neat, though. SM4: Quest for Peace: Again, not great. But still better than the previous film. Still have to watch Superman Returns. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."
