Given what was posted today in The Cafe, I pray Nestle doesn't sell out. Losing Butterfinger's would create a massive blackhole in my life.

It really does make you wonder what the reasoning is for considering such a move.
You love this signature.

I got me a box of Raisinets.
I would hate for Nestle to stop making them. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

Butterfinger is probably my favorite product of theirs. It would be a shame if they stopped making them.

A personal story you guys might find interesting.
In 1998 I had a friend who worked at the local Safeway. I was grocery shopping one day while my friend was on duty restocking the candy aisle. I picked up a Butterfinger when my friend said, "don't buy that one - buy the ones that just arrived from the distributor.". He said the taste and texture of a Butterfinger changes the older it gets. He was absolutely correct, because the fat content of a Butterfinger is so high it's one of those candy bars that actually has a shorter shelf life than the typical chocolate candy. I bought a new bar and an old bar together to try a taste test and the difference was stunning. My tip of the day, buy candy bars where customer traffic is high and the bars don't hang around too long. |

When I eat a Toll House cookie, it's like I got a taste of Heaven.

Vaporman87 wrote : Most candy bars have a reasonable shelf life but some of my favorites have other ingredients that I pay attention to. Like peanuts. Peanuts have a high fat ratio and when used whole in candy bars the flavor goes "off" in time. Ground into peanut butter and the shelf life gets even shorter. I've never had a bad Reese's' Peanut Butter Cup because they never hang around stores long enough to go bad. I trashed a Mr. Goodbar with awful, bitter peanuts, a sign that the nuts were rancid. One of the teachers at the office where I work brought out a "Party-Sized" bag of M&M's that she said was at least 2 years old! While the candy shell and the chocolate were fine the peanuts were very bitter - making the candy impossible to eat. |
Here's a retro commercial for Nestle Quik that I stumbled upon.
