You know why this song is so famous? Because the words are easy to remember lol.
"If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

Mr Magic wrote : After "Lost in Space" on CBS, "Batman" on ABC was THE most heavily promoted TV show of the 1960's. I can post YouTube clips all day, and you guys still wouldn't get the full effect the ABC promo schedule had back in the day. ABC learned its lesson form CBS - run promos all day and every evening. But no one has posted the "before air" promos of Batman from the summer of 1966. These early "sneak peek" promos had no music and no dialog from the show, only random scenes where you got only a glimpse of the caped crusader. Very mysterious and very well done. I'm convinced it was the preview promos that generated the overwhelming response to Batman in its first season on ABC. Also each hour long episode was split into two half-hour airings on Wednesday and Thursday nights. And the stage was set for the reception to the Batman theme. The whole family watched the very first episode of Batman. My sister and I looked at each other in stunned confusion. "Where are the rest of the the theme lyrics?". Just singing "Batman" over and over wasn't good enough. But that was only the initial reaction. I've talked about this on RetroJunk - the power of network broadcasting is the power of repetition. A strange thing happens when you hear that Batman theme 30 times a week! The comedy of the show seems to meld with the repeatable lyrics and, personally, I grew used to hearing that final BATMAN!!! scream from the theme. Remember, promos ran all day, everyday. Even channel surfing you could run into the Batman song. It's hard to explain the effect of watching a morning game show, only to see a Batman promo during the commercial break. The music actually grows on ya! |

Along with the Batman theme comes another 60s favorite. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

Not sure what you mean by 'novelty songs' but I guess songs that aren't to be taken seriously or are funny? There's one band I used to listen to a lot called Sparks and alot of their songs are kind of odd or have unusual lyrics. So I guess you could call them a novelty band. Here's one of my favorites.
Wir sprechen zu viel, aber wir sehen zu wenig.
