During the war years of the 1940's Heckle and Jeckle were popular, very popular. In fact there was another Terrytoons duo that found a following, Gandy Goose and Sourpuss.

Not really. But they look like a lot of fun.
Any cartoon lover would remember these guys.

Of course, a very famous duo too.

My favorite is Felix and Poindexter.

As I recall Felix was asked by his crazy neighbor, the Professor, to babysit Poindexter while he took a nap. From that beginning Felix and Poindexter made numerous buddy cartoons together. 

When CBS revived classic toons in the 90's it was a real treat to see these two back together again.
Remember "Star Trash"?
