We ate at the new IHOP that recently opened in a nearby town. This one is a bit different in that it is within a spot in a strip mall. Usually they are stand-alone restaurants

To celebrate the new Addams Family movie...

IHOP is becoming a favorite inexpensive dine-in choice for us. Yesterday we stopped in and I enjoyed a side of pumpkin pancakes while my kids got the Elf on the Shelf hot cocoa and some Christmas pancakes. All delicious. That hot cocoa was probably the best I've ever tasted. 

IHOP is a nice slice of Americana. I really like diners in general!

A brand new one is opening along the highway by my house. It's replacing a local diner. We just heard about it recently, and today we saw a billboard advertising it along with seeing the contstruction work on the previous diner.

I'm looking forward to eating there. I haven't been to an IHOP in a long time. I feel bad though for the previous diner. I only ate there twice. I thought it was okay, nothing to write home about. However, it's been around for over forty years. A lot of people are going to miss it. I think it might even impact the new IHOP's business.

I've never read "The Elf on the Shelf" but I might try the pancakes anyway.
