I don't pay a lot of attention to a lot of music.

I definitely don't agree. Have you listened to anything that's come out lately? What do you like? There's lots of great stuff that has become new favorites of mine. I could make a list of bands and singers that have mostly released music from 2010 to now that i think are really great that i would recommend to anyone.

I used to think that there was no good music anymore and mostly liked music from the past decades. I'm still a huge fan of music from the past(50's, 60's, 70's 80's, 90's) but i have come across lots and lots of great newer music over the past ten years and i think it's a shame that a lot of it goes unnoticed and doesn't get enough respect from people because a lot of people don't give it a chance.

I think in the past there was more great music played on the radio and out in the open for you to hear but now there is still lots of great music but you just have to look a little more for it. In this topic i posted 60 albums that i really liked and there are at least 40 more that i could at to that list. And so far the 2 albums that came out this year that i listened to i liked a lot(David Bowie's backstar and Exmortus' Ride Forth) and there are many that i look forward to and many that i hope come out.

I just like music a lot and i'm always looking for more. I have a list of 500+ bands and singers, old and new, that i plan on listening to and i'm always adding to. Some end up disappointing, some end up becoming new favorites and the great stuff is worth listening to the stuff i end up not caring for.

I just think it's shocking and disappointing that there are so many good bands/singers that end up not being heard by most people because either they not as well known or not even given a chance. But like i said i could make a list of all the newer bands/singers that are great that people should listen to.

For many of us, myself included, the time available to listen to music of any kind is just not there. So when the opportunity does arise, we want to hear music that we KNOW we'll enjoy.

I listen to the classics mostly but when I'm not doing that it'll be either classic rock or random stuff from the 80s. Stuff like Rush, The Doors, Depeche Mode, OMD, Classix Nouveaux, Ultravox, Supertramp, etc. Rarely I'll listen to some fairly new stuff but it isn't often and they're very obscure bands. My time is spent on the others though.

To me it feels like music is slowly becoming less of an art form and more of an industrial product to be constructed via the same old formula and digested by the masses for a profit. Sad really. True talent is fading away to be replaced with music programs, autotune, sampling, regurgitating some annoying beat that people seem to find 'catchy' and who will buy it over and over.

Anyway that's just my opinion. I guess the saddest thing of all is that people who actually DO have amazing talent or raw skill no one seems to care about or are looked over.
