It sure is good to know you guys feel the same way about Linda Ellerbee as I do. By the time NBC News Overnight signed off the air for the last time Linda had become one of the most respected people in the news business.
The greatest praise came from viewers. I remember when Linda was interviewing a member of congress in an informal setting when the congressman started trash talking teenagers, as if teens were all losers! Linda shot back and totally dressed the congressman down, very uncharacteristic of Linda. But that bonehead congressman got her angry. Linda cares deeply about young people and has spoken out many times over how, as a nation, we give lip-service to caring about our kids and the state of the world we are leaving future generations. Before leaving NBC, after the cancellation of NBC News Overnight, Linda gave the network one more chance at her staying on by agreeing to the most unusual news broadcast I've ever seen. The show was called, "Summer Sunday USA", or as I used to call it, "60 Minutes - Outdoors!". Yep, it's no joke. Summer Sunday USA had Linda Ellerbee host an hour long news show completely outdoors - live! Imagine interviewing the Secretary of State in the middle of Central Park. People walking by waving at the camera, dogs leaving the frisbee alone to go greet Linda and her guest, aircraft flying overhead washing out every word spoken, and of course flying insects desperate to go on national television. Well now you know why I love Linda. But you guys also know that my story is only the beginning for her. Your side of Linda's journey is waay more interesting and sure has lasted a lot longer. |

I had no idea how far back Linda Ellerbee's history goes to. Kind of makes you appreciate her a bit more.
As a kid, whenever Nick News came on, I would usually turn the TV off. I still do actually. I never cared for that show. But I can still respect Linda Ellerbee for the work that she's done on Nickelodeon over the years. |

That's telling Congress, Linda!

I would appreciate a news/interview show much more in a less controlled environment like the Summer Sunday USA show you mention Edd. Too bad there isn't anything out there like that now.
You love this signature.

I was one of the kids that loved this show, but I will not lie I thought this show ended years ago. Will I miss it? A bit because nostalgia, but other than that, no.
