John is known for making films that will either make you laugh or cry. In any case, he's made some of the most entertaining and most memorable films to ever grace the big screen! When you think genius, you think John Hughes! He's contributed a lot in show business.

What are your favorite works of his?

Well, he was more prolific as a writer than a director, but I always associate him with the movies he directed AND wrote, so I will choose from just those.

The obvious ones would be:

The Breakfast Club
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Weird Science
Uncle Buck
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (probably my favorite of the bunch).

John makes movies that relate to real life like The Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck and Dutch.

Sometimes comedy and drama go hand-in-hand.

Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Sixteen Candles are in my yearly rotation of movies to watch. I also watch Ferris Bueller and Home Alone every couple of years

Those would probably be my favorites, although I enjoyed most of his work. I really need to go back and visit some of his other works like Some Kind of Wonderful which I haven't seen since I was a kid. I also need to watch Dutch, I've never seen it but heard so many good things about it.

^ You should try watching it sometime. It's a nice road trip "dramady".

The man definitely knew how to capture teen angst. My favorite of his is actually the somewhat unknown Career Opportunities.

When I first saw it I was about the same age as the main character. He was in his early 20s, living at home with no real plan or prospects, and he was perfectly content despite his family and friends concern about his future. I could identify with him so much, and still can to this day.

I could identify with his desire for Jennifer Connelly in that one.

Pretty In Pink is getting a 30th Anniversary Re-Release in theaters. That's cool. They should do this for almost all Hughes films.

They should've did a re-release for The Breakfast Club last year.
