Not really a novel, but my uncle gave me volume A from the Man, Myth, and Magic set when I was a kid. I still have it today. Lots of weird sh*t in there about witchcraft, alchemy, voodoo, demons etc. I've always wanted to read the rest of the volumes, but they're hard/expensive to come by.
