"Where were you in '62?"

Before George Lucas' Star Wars and after Francis Ford Coppola's adaption of The Godfather, the two made a classic of their own together known as American Graffiti.

The 60s must've been a good time to be a kid.

Perhaps. I would still take the 50's over the 60's.

@crow: Mainly because in the 50's you were still living in a time of less social upheaval in the country. You didn't have the hippy/sexual revolution crap going on, or the Vietnam war. You didn't have people assassinating Presidents either. You had Ike in office most of the decade, and that probably made you feel pretty safe. Down side was that you had the whole Atomic bomb craze going on.

Watching I Love Lucy could make your day complete.

Yeah, I'd take the 50s over every decade except maybe the 80s. My dad grew up in the 50s and apparently loved it. I just imagine living in BttF.

Malt shops would be an everyday thing for me. A milkshake probably cost a dime in those day, right?

If that.

Simpler times, much less required to be entertained. And with all the cultural references to things being "futuristic", the future must have looked bright in the 50's.
