I saw the magazine on the racks at the convenience store where I went to buy candy bars and Mad Magazine. As for the movie, that was earlier, at a friend's house during a sleepover. He was asleep and I was channel flipping on cable TV (which we didn't have in my house). I stopped on some unfamiliar animation... probably on TBS... it was right at the beginning of the Taarna story when the general rose out of the mud. I was about ten years old. I was fascinated of course. And I never knew what it was, until five or six years later, when I saw Heavy Metal The Movie for sale at Sam Goody, and bought it because I knew I liked the magazine. Imagine my surprise and joy when I saw that cybernetic hand reach up from the muck again...
shakin steakOct 24, 2018View

41117A different kind RetroDaze meetup
Cool! Yeah, sometime during Summer would be perfect. It’s not too hot in May, but by July it can get pretty toasty. Still, it just depends on getting a set of dates that can work for as many of us as possible.

I wondered if doing a three night stay is possible for anybody, or if sticking to two was best
Vaporman87Oct 24, 2018View
41116A different kind RetroDaze meetupI like this idea. While Retrocon is cool, lapping around a venue multiple times a day gets boring after a while. This would be cool to do. Next summer should be perfect for me. ThatDudeintheHoodieOct 24, 2018View

41114A different kind RetroDaze meetupI like the idea!

RetroCon is great, but like I said before - I liked just hanging out more than cruising the booths. I'm about a 8.5 hour drive from Mason, so not bad but flying might be more convenient based on time frames. I think you're right too, it's great having someone familiar with the area so we're not all running around like chicken's with no heads haha
vkimoOct 24, 2018View
