44716The Grinch 1966 aka The Animated Cult Classic (but ONLY by default!) Special Nobody Seems To Give a Crap About Anymore
Speaking of, fun fact: Eons before he went off on his own and got famous doing shows like Garfield and Friends and Bobby's World, doing animation contracting for The Simpsons, and doing all those Garfield specials as well as that Turok film (that was based more on the original comic book of the 1950's. Today, most of our generation only knows Turok as a character who was on games for the Nintendo 64 but once upon a time, the boomers and Generation X knew him as a comic book character) and to a lesser extent, that stupid Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer film, Phil Roman worked for Chuck Jones. He was one of the animators who worked on The Grinch Original. Neat eh?
RetroSnob88Dec 21, 2019View

44713Terry Pratchett's Hogfather (Based on the book of the same name respectively!)
I'm working my way through Discworld actually. While I haven't reached Hogfather yet, I have seen the special and I love it.
ThatDudeintheHoodieDec 20, 2019View
44712McDonald's
Want to know the most ironic and (quite frankly hilarious) thing ever? So how many of you here are familiar with Ray Kroc? For those who don't know who that is, Ray Kroc was a soulless humanity hating s*** guzzler whom in 1955, took the McDonald's restaurant from its founders and original owners Richard and Maurice McDonald and franchised it. Anyway, in memorial of him, in my hometown, there is actually a fitness center named after him. You actually read that right: The man who was responsible for fattening up 97.9% (and counting considering some parts of the 3rd world are discovering McDonald's for the first time) of the world has a fitness center named after him. That's like naming an animal shelter in memory of Jeffrey Dahmer or even naming a girl's school in memory of Elvis Presley or Chuck Berry. If we're going to name certain places after s****y people, why don't we name a high class all girl's school or a fancy hotel after Kid Rock when he dies? Or even a Preschool named after Ronald William Brown (Google him, I'm already saying more than I should)
RetroSnob88Dec 20, 2019View

44707Christmas Nostalgia & More!

Another European Yule Monster I enjoy is Grýla. This witch from Icelandic mythology finds bad kids and eats them on Christmas Eve? Doesn't that infant look scrumdiddlyumptious?

RetroSnob88Dec 20, 2019View
44706Christmas Nostalgia & More!

Here's one of my Christmas heroes from any European Mythology: Krampus. Every Christmas Eve, he finds naughty kids and takes them back to his lair to torment them for their horrid behaviour. He went mainstream a few years back and was even made into a movie but everybody has seem to calm down about him since

RetroSnob88Dec 20, 2019View
44704Christmas Nostalgia & More!
Whatever. Y'all can keep that stupid 2000 movie. The 1966 Animated Cult Classic (but only by default) Special will always be the only Grinch in my eyes. The other iterarions were an insult to Dr Seuss
RetroSnob88Dec 20, 2019View
