3559ArticleSockofFleagullsThanks for sharing. My parents divorced just a couple years before you and I know some of those feelings. Luckily I was in high school so I had many years of great Christmases together.A Very Sega ChristmasDec 12, 2016View
3566ArticlevkimoThanks for sharing. It's very poignant how video games help kids find refuge at times. Ever since the mid 80s the quintessential game console has taken the number on spot on most boys wishlists. I feel the magic is gone on todays consoles. I remember getting a Xbox 360 and spending 20 minutes to set up a profile and download the latest firmware, kind of killed the excitement A Very Sega ChristmasDec 12, 2016View
5572ArticleBeatles_ToyboxThanks for sharing! Growing up in rural Oregon, one of the few things for us to do on Friday nights (maybe it was Saturday) was go to the small Catholic church for skate night. They had ancient roller-skates that they would rent to us and a big chunk of the community would fill the place as we would skate in a circle around the small basketball court. I broke my arm there in fourth grade, but it didn't stop me from lacing up the skates for a school reward trip to Skate Palace in Salem. Looking back on it, roller skating was huge for me as a kid. Unfortunately I never mastered any cool skating tricks but had fun anyway. Most skate places around here are now closed and the church hasn't had skate night for a very long time.Skating Through The YearsDec 21, 2021View
3672Articleechidna64Thanks for sharing this with us Mass! There is a clear difference between a series that is planned out in advance versus one that is written ad-hoc with ratings-grab twists that sabotage future episodes. I never got into Bablyon 5 but wouldn't mind seeing an episode or two based on your recommendation, it's a shame that it is nowhere to stream.Babylon 5Jan 07, 2017View
3949ArticleVaporman87Thanks for sharing these special memories with your father post-divorce. I know exactly how you felt. I too had to deal with the divorce of my parents at around the same age. It was a difficult time, but it was nice to have the time specifically devoted to doing things together. I lived with my mom until I was old enough to make my own choice of who to live with, and since my mom was moving to another town and I had no interest in losing my friends and making new ones, I moved in with my dad. But I can still remember that first time I visited dad following the split. He took us into town and bought me a Mantis figure from G.C. Murphy's, then we went and watched Silver Bullet. I remember nothing about that movie, but I clearly recall that it was the film we watched. I benefited from the divorce in many ways, but most of all with an expanded family. I earned a brother that I am close to even today, with my dad once again divorced. I met many new people I would have otherwise never known, and experienced new things. Sure it was tough on me, but I don't think I would go back and change anything in regard to their split. Divorced Dad MemoriesJun 21, 2017View
