Top 5 Favorite Christmas Horror Movies

It is officially my favorite time of the year. The time when I can happily binge watch Christmas horror movies on repeat. Of all of the holidays, I do feel that Christmas horror is my absolute favorite. I guess it's because there's just something about this particular holiday season that tends to make people go just a little bit insane.

In no particular order, here are my top 5 favorite Christmas horror movies of all time:

  • Silent Night:
This film features Malcolm McDowell and is about a killer Santa, who goes through town murdering all those who are naughty on Christmas Eve. It is considered a reboot of the ever popular 1984 "Silent Night, Deadly Night". It's gory, twisted, and delivers just what you would want and expect from a Christmas horror film.

  • Jack Frost:
I remember when I first saw this movie. My aunt and I would always go to our local video rental store to find movies each and every weekend. When we picked up this movie, we originally thought that we were getting the more "kid friendly" version of a movie with the same title. When we got it home, we quickly realized differently. Basically, it's about a serial killer who dies in a car crash and becomes a murderous revenge-seeking snowman, against the sheriff who caught him. This comedic Christmas horror is definitely one that I will never grow tired of re-watching.

  • Black Christmas:
This is one instance where I actually like the remake better than the original. In this film, a crazed serial killer returns to his former childhood home to terrorize the residents of a sorority house, murdering them all, one by one.

  • Silent Night, Deadly Night:
In this cult classic, a teenager goes on a murderous rampage in a Santa suit, after his parents are killed by "Santa," when he was just a small child, and he's placed in an orphanage, where he is abused by the Mother Superior.

  • Nightmare Before Christmas:
This isn't exactly "horror" per se, but it is a film that everyone has seen and loves. It's a movie that the whole family can enjoy, whether you watch in October, December, or at any time of the year.

If you enjoy Christmas themed horror as much as I do, please leave a comment below of your favorite movies!

Well, I've seen one of these movies. Guess which? LOL. Even so, thank you for sharing this fun list.

I'm not an overly big fan of horror movies, so I've not watched nearly as many as others probably have, but I did see Silent Night, Deadly Night one time. I was traveling with my Dad and we watched it in a motel. Scared the crap out of me when I was about 9.
