My All Time Favorite Nick Shows

Because the Splat was recently launched and Nick played such a huge part of my childhood, in this article I will be discussing my all time favorite Nick shows. This list will exclude cartoons and game shows because those will be in a future list, but anyway lets get started.

5.

All That was like Saturday Night Live for kids and was filled with memorable characters like Repair Man, Superdude, Lester Oaks, Construction Worker, and Ed. OK,  Kenan and Kel were the best parts of the show, but everyone was funny in a skit or two. I like the Vital Information and The Island skits but you could tell everyone involved put a lot of effort into it, which is exactly what made this era of Nick special.

Hey Dude's intro just pulled you into the show and it had a fairly unique setting for a teen sitcom. Not to mention it had a common theme with most Nick shows; really relate-able  characters and situations we were familiar with but always work out in the end. Like when Brad and Ted were handcuffed together, or the Battle of the Sexes episode. These were always funny, and Hey Dude has always been one of my Nick favorites.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete
's intro is just awesome, and so fitting for the show. The setting of the show just captures the dog days of summer so well. I mean you can just watch one episode and feel like you literally just spent the whole day with these people. The show is only 20 minutes long but the pacing and eventfulness of it, or sometimes the lack there of, just made you feel like you did everything with these characters and that is amazing. This was the only show that did that to this extent. That's what made this show work so well.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a show I loved. The intro used to scare me to death, specifically the gnome. The music gives you an uneasy feeling from the start, and the stories were all so well done. It was like Tales From The Crypt for a younger audience, but honestly it was often far scarier, or at least far more memorable. Like the Phone Police episode or the Bookish Babysitter or Laughing In The Dark. But my favorite was the Shiny Red Bike episode, but the point is this show was great and still very enjoyable now. That's why it makes the number two spot.

Salute Your Shorts
was another show I just loved growing up. The intro was repeated a lot when I was a kid. I related to Budnick as a kid, and the show had a ton of memorable catchphrases. Catchphrases like "roasted toasted" and "burnt to a crisp" or "awful waffle". The Zeke The Plumber episode was great and I also really enjoyed the episode where Budnick and Dina started dating. But my all time favorite was the Capture The Flag episode. I have not seen it in so long! I'm really hoping they release this show on DVD soon.

But anyways, this is my list. Please share yours.

I loved all shows that you had listed. I used to watch them all the time. One show I remember watching was Roundhouse. The music and comedy were great on it. How I miss old school Nick.

The only show from the list here that I recall seeing at any point in it's entirety (a full episode) was Hey Dude. And that was likely because I found either Kelly Brown or Christine Taylor too attractive to turn the channel.
