Games to the big screen

I thought I would write an article on games to films.

They've made games to film in the past, including Mortal Kombat (which was OK) and the let down of a Street Fighter film. But I have put together what I'm hoping is an interesting list that will grab your attention

The first on the list is the great first person shooter regarded as one of the best games on the PS2. I couldn't think of an actor to play Parker, but in my opinion the suggestions below would be great.

Milla Jovovich as Eos!
J.T. Walsh as Grython
Dina Meyer as Masako
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Hendrix

Most would agree on with having this game made into a film, with the outstanding concepts in the game and the battles you have to overcome. I think director Niel Blomkamp expressed interest in it at one point but this hasn't happened yet.

Although I have not played it much,  people have said it's a great game and could rival the above very well.

Stephen Moyer as Michael Belmont would make a great choice. The monsters in it would make it very entertaining, including the werewolves and Frankenstein. And seeing Dracula himself at the end would be fun.

I have only heard a few things about this game turning into a film. John Woo originally wanted to make this in 2009 I think, but it didn't work out in the end due to budgets.

The name itself sounds very action originated and maybe a cartoon would be better, although a live action film would still be very cool. Michael Rooker could play one of the main villains with the Mohawk. You can look him up on Google with the same haircut.
Because it's an old game I could only think of an older cast for it. Maybe too late to make into a film these days due to the violence as well.

William Zabka as Axel
Mimi Lesseos as Blaze
Mario Van Peebles Adam

A great steampunk game to film with a similar style to the new Mortal Engines film. This film would offer a lot of action in the cinemas. Speedball would make a great film too, although I chose this one over it. Both are made by Bitmap Brothers.

Jonathan Jackson: Brigand

Jason Statham: Mercenary

James Woods: The Preacher

Vinnie Jones: Thug

Ralph Fiennes: Gentleman

William Forsythe: Navvie

One of my favorite games on the N64 was Shadows of the Empire. I heard it was also based off a novel but a film would definitely be fun and entertaining. To play Dash Rendar I would choose a bearded actor. Chris Pratt or someone with the same look.

Another brilliant game to film would be Legend of Zelda. Base it on the brown haired Link or the Ocarina of Time game with blonde hair. My cast for the film is below.

Ralph Fiennes: Gannodorf
Logan Lerman: Link
Chloe Grace Moretz: Zelda

I think F-Zero X would make a brilliant film adaption due its full throttle style and boosters on the vehicles. Overall an adrenalin pumped CG film. To play Captain Falcon I chose Patrick Wilson from Watchmen.

Turok would make a great film using the portals. The weaponry would be very cool to see as well. I always liked the music so they could copy some of the opening soundtrack for it. I imagine them using the same look from the '97 game rather than the PS3 version.

I think Shinobi would make a very decent film which would include a fair bit from the game. The big samurai and the dark ninja in the disco. Also having the robot and evil computer with lasers would rock, although they could use a corridor instead of some big open warehouse for that part. An army part may look quite good as well using guard dogs as well as armed guards. The maze at the end would be interesting, and of course the boss being Zeed.

One of my favorites would be this battle Robocop vs. Terminator. Not sure whether they would use Frank Miller's comic story line or the '95 game itself. Two things I would like to see in this film would be the future robot walking through the flames and the mini hunters from T2:3D battle across time. I think this would make a brilliant film.

I always thought Robocop vs. Terminator didn't get the appreciation it deserved (the Sega version, at least). I didn't even know there was a comic. The ideal video game movie for me would be a Contra adaptation made in the 80s..starring Stallone and Schwarzenegger, natch.

Ones I forgot on the list was Broken Sword a tremendous game and Duke Nuekm, kid Chameleon. And Medal of Honor, Uncharted, Flashback, Command and Conquer, Red zone, Golden Axe and Twisted Metal, syndicate wars. Make a tomb raider with Rhona Mitra back in the day, maybe with the coliseum and preastoric part with dinosaurs in it.

i've always wanted to read the original novel of shadows of the empire. i recently played the game again a few years back and the platforming levels really haven't aged all that well. dash just has this weird lack of traction when making turns when he's running and there was this weird auto aim mechanic where it would take a while for dash to aim where you wanted him to.

From this list, I would happily go see films for Mass Effect, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage.
