Spider-Man

Hey guys, I'm back! Today, I am going to be doing an article on the first Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and discuss all the merchandise I own from this film.

I was 7 when this film came out in 2002, and my parents took me to see this film on opening day and I was blown away by it! I remember how exciting it was at the time to finally see Spider-Man on the big screen. Me and my family saw it twice in theaters which is the most times we have ever went to the theater to see a superhero film.

It was the film that got me into Spider-Man and the film that responsible for helping Marvel Comics get off the ground and start doing more big budget live action films for all of their characters. It brought the whole comic book movie genre back to life after Batman & Robin almost killed it in 1997. I also consider it to be the best of the Sam Raimi films, and to this day no other Spider-Man film has ever topped it.

Action Figures That I Have:

Peter Parker:

Tobey Maguire did an excellent job at portraying the shy and nerdy Peter Parker. Throughout the film, I really sympathized with his character.

Spider-Man:

The origin story for Spider-Man was also done incredibly well and I loved the whole "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" theme of the film.

I also thought Tobey Maguire did an excellent job as Spider-Man in this film. I loved his suit, his action scenes, and some of the quips he made in this film. His Spider-Man was also very heroic and easy to relate to.

Mary Jane:

Kirsten Dunst also did an excellent job portraying Peter Parker's love interest, Mary Jane Watson. I fell in love with her Mary Jane and think Kirsten Dunst is extremely beautiful to look at in these movies.

Green Goblin:

Willem Dafoe did an excellent job playing the Green Goblin too. While the costume he wore in the movie looks cheesy now, he scared the living crap out of me when I first saw the film when I was 7 and I was terrified of his Green Goblin.

Norman Osborn:

One of my favorite scenes from the movie is when Norman Osborn crawls on the ground talking to the Green Goblin mask on his chair. The mask keeps telling what to do and Norman won't listen. This scene perfectly shows the split personality between Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin and shows the constant conflict Norman has with his own self.

Spider-Man Web Blaster:

I loved playing with this Spider-Man web blaster as a kid. Me and my brother use to go in the backyard and play Spider-Man all the time, and I would be Spider-Man and he would be the Green Goblin. I also loved squirting him with this thing.

Spider-Man Soundtrack:

Ah, nothing screams Early 2000's more than the first Spider-Man soundtrack. My parents bought this album after the film came out and we used to listen to it in the car all the time. My favorite song on the album was Nickelback's "Hero" which was a huge hit back in 2002. It is also one of the few Nickelback songs I actually like. Ah, good times, good times...

The Video Game:

And who can forget the video game Sony made based off the movie. I loved this game as a kid and was surprised by how good it actually was and how close to the movie it was. It was difficult at times and it took me awhile to beat it, but I loved this game.

Spider-Man Dr. Pepper Cans:

Does anybody remember the Spider-Man drinks Dr. Pepper released to tie in to the movie? I sure do!

My parents would constantly buy Dr. Pepper drinks at the store back then just so we could collect all the Spider-Man cans Dr. Pepper made.

Well, that's all the merchandise I own from this movie and that concludes the article on the first Spider-Man film in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. Please leave me your thoughts on the article and thanks for reading!
