Heavy Metal-Sploitation Part 2

Hello everyone... I'm Back... bwahahahaha. But seriously I am back with a new movie for everyone. This time we will be checking out the movie Rocktober Blood. Another one of my faves. It is a good little horror film from Canada. So let's get down to it.

This movie was made in 1984 and stars Tray Loren, Donna Scoggins, and Nigel Benjamin. None of these people really are famous for anything else but this movie which is sad. The soundtrack was done by the band Sorcery (who are also in the movie, but we will get to that in a little bit.)

The plot of the movie starts with singer Billy Eye (Tray Loren) and his band Rocktober Blood (Sorcery) in the studio recording their album. The song they are working on right now is I'm Back (he he). As Billy finishes up he runs into his ex-girlfriend and backup singer Lynn Starling (Donna Scoggins) as she is getting ready to record vocals for the song that Billy wrote called Rainbow Eyes. They get into an argument and Billy and the rest of the band leave. As Lynn tries to record the vocals she is distraught and decides to just give up for the night and go into the Jacuzzi.

While getting into the Jacuzzi she locks the door. Unaware that Billy has returned and has gone crazy and starts killing anyone left in the studio. As Lynn dries off she walks into the studio and sees Billy doing some drugs and listening to the I'm Back recordings backwards. She asks what is going on and finds out Billy has gone insane and killed everyone in the studio except her. He goes to attack her and a security guard shows up and saves her. Billy is then caught and tried for the murders at the studio and is sentenced to death.

Fast forward to 2 years later and Lynn is now fronting Rocktober Blood under a different name. Now called Headmistress they are having a press party for the Rocktober Blood Tour. Being interviewed by a VJ from a music television station we find out that Lynn was the reason Billy was sentenced to death because she testified in his trial. She says it was the hardest thing she ever had to do. A mysterious figure then shows up and tells her to meet the band manager Chris (Nigel Benjamin) backstage. She arrives backstage and is cornered by Billy who leaves her curled up and crying on the floor. Billy then starts to stalk and kill anyone involved with her... or is it Billy... you will have to watch the rest the film to find out.

Released in 1984, there is not much information on it's release. Only that it was released on Vestron Video (ahhh Vestron Video). The movie was directed by Beverly Sebastian who also wrote and produced the movie along with whom I am assuming is her husband Fred Sebastian. It has not been released on DVD (I have a bootleg copy of course). The band in the movie, Sorcery, was also in another movie called Stunt Rock. I wish there was more information because I would love to know more about the making of the film but as of right now there is not much info.

If you like cheesy horror movies you will love this film.  I like it a lot and wish they would officially release this on DVD. You can watch it on Youtube if you want to check it out. Here is the trailer:

I haven't seen Stunt Rock all the way through. I need to rectify that though.

Based on your write-up here I tried watching this one on YouTube last night and it is very early 80's, but also incredibly boring. Just lingering shots of wooden actresses that are supposed to build suspense, but are really just filling time. I guess it's just not my style. I have seen Stunt Rock though and that one is nothing but fun for the whole running time. If you want to see Sorcery on screen, that's the one to look for.

Ha! I love the trailer for this one. It's so bad, it HAS to be good. It looks as though it was filmed in somebody's house with a home video camera. LOVE that about it.

What really made me laugh though, was the scene with the feet walking down a flight of stairs. That EXACT SAME scene was filmed for one of our home movies back in the day. Same angle and everything. That's hilarious.
