Has anybody ever heard about the so called treasure at Oak Island? It's a fascinating story that goes back hundreds of years.

By most accounts, the story of Oak Island's
Money Pit begins in the summer of 1795 when a teenager named Daniel
McGinnis saw strange lights on an island offshore from his parent's
house. According to author Lee Lamb, upon investigating the island for
the source of the lights, McGinnis noticed a peculiar circular
depression approximately 13 feet in diameter on the island's forest
floor (2006). Looking around, McGinnis observed that a number of oak
trees surrounding the depression had been removed. In addition, McGinnis
saw that a block and tackle hung from a severed tree limb directly over
the shallow hole. Although some researchers refute the presence of the
block and tackle, whatever he witnessed that day convinced him that the
scene was worth investigating. McGinnis decided to leave the island to
enlist the help of two friends, John Smith and Anthony Vaughan. The
following day the three teenage boys began enthusiastically excavating
the curious site.

It then goes on how at every 10 feet wooden planks were found. And how over the years different people and corporations tried and failed to excavate the site. There's reportedly 50 billion dollars in today's money hidden. Tons of theories from Free Masons to Pirates. Even a new TV series. I could read about this for hours.

Did you bring this up recently in another thread? I just heard about it not too long ago. Pretty cool.

I'll have to check this out further. I'm really interested in stuff like this... hidden finds, time capsules, etc.

I really "dig" this show! Come on vkimo, let's go uncover it! Everyone knows that it's not gonna be in the swamp!

The Secret of Oak Island is one of the few shows on cable that I'm into. I can't wait for the second season!

My bet is that Sir Francis Drake hid some Spanish loot there

Nah, I don't think so. I first read about it in Rolling Stone a few years back.

It's pretty good!

Ofcourse there are the typical TV contrivances where they seem to be withholding information to drag out the episodes and to introduce bogus theories but the sense of mystery and the well-timed payoffs make it worth it!

I'm hoping they have found something big and/or have solved the mystery in Season 2.

I just checked out the trailer, and I did not like. Did not like at all haha

From the cinematic music, coerced suspense and editing it just looked like all those shows that destroyed Discovery Channel and now threatens HC.  Like those gator hunting shows and the moonshiner one. This would make for a better 1 hour documentary in my opinion. Like watching those Bigfoot specials. You know at the end of the episode they'll have a bizarre footprint and some noise recordings but nothing substantial but it was a fun 45 minutes.

Yeah, I hate those shows that do everything in their power to convince you something unusual or impressive will be shown, only for it to be nothing at all. Like those ghost hunter shows and the like. They aren't at all suspenseful because you know if something odd did happen, it would be in news outlets. It's a waste of time.
