"Nessie" has been a part of our collective consciousness since the 1930's. It used to be, when an image would surface of a so called lake monster, you would have it examined and labs could easily determine if it was a fraud or hoax.
But nowadays with the advancement of special effects and photo editing programs that are available to almost anyone, you can't trust what you see no matter how real it looks.
This recent photo of a "Nessie" like creature is going to suffer from our increased skepticism and scrutiny. How does one determine the validity of something like this? Does an expert exist who could really determine with a fair amount of accuracy whether or not it's faked? I'm not so sure any more. And I suppose nothing will prove the existence of something like "Nessie" until a carcass rolls up on shore for all to see.

I think even if a specialist in photography found the picture to be authentic, would never actually admit it.
