I think there's a reason they use Super Mario 1. This game is iconic. It's evocative. Almost anybody can get the hang of it. I don't think that's true about the Galaxy games.
Either that or this is just what people who are buying luxury cars now, grew up with.
But what I really want to talk about is the live action segment. Mario is a little goofy with the bulbous nose, but he looks tough. He wears ***-kicker boots and a mean look in his eyes. This is how I pictured Mario when I a kid. Captain Lou, blue collar Brooklyn guy. Not lame, castrato "wahoo!" dork. Did Nintendo get scared of toughness after the SMB movie tanked? Why did they change the presentation of their flagship character to be so annoying?

I wish he would have raised one foot and squished that goomba at the end, but maybe they thought that would be too nasty.
