I can only imagine what he's been through to get there, but Moudy was cleared of all charges in Egyptian court this past week (he merely wished to purchase a weapon to protect he and his family, which is very much frowned upon there unless you are rich or influential). 

Would you buy a weapon to protect your family?

Yes. I've taken concealed carry classes (though I don't plan to carry a weapon on me) and the instructor said the best weapon for home defense is a shotgun, so we are planning on getting one. I am just not yet sure what steps I am going to take to prevent it from getting in to the hands of my kids.

I think a good trained dog is one of the best family defenses. Virtually nothing can sneak in the house without setting them off barking and probably deterring would be burglars. I'm more worried about a group of people assailing me. That's why I want a safe room and a flame thrower.
