Love these old ads. We still have an ad from many, many years ago (when my family was in the furniture business) that has several sets of living room and bedroom furniture for only $300 or $400! Nowadays you can't buy a chair for your kitchen table for that.

Looking at many of these old ads from the 19th century, a lot of these prices are dirt cheap compared to today. Such as going from Chicago to New York for $15. Of course, then again, $15 in 1877 was probably about $300 in today's standards. Plus, groceries and hats for 10 cents for different items. Looking at the economy back then, and the value of the dollar, I get the feeling that our currency is going to go through a breakdown at any year now.
