I had a Yoda one, but my dad made me return it. Some well off kids had like 5 attached to their backpacks.

Taking care of a virtual pet was pretty much a 24-hr. job. That's how authentic this "parenting" was.

This thread reminded me of a game I really enjoyed for the PC, back around the late '90's, called "Creatures" and "Creatures 2".
The game focused on you, the player, doing your best to oversee the birth, growth, and death cycles of a race of creatures known as Norns. The Norns were EXTREMELY well programmed A.I. creatures, with a lot of work done to create a digital DNA and hierarchy of needs for the Norns. Having been reminded of this, I am thinking this would be a fun game for my kids to play. I need to look into finding this once more. You love this signature.

There's some kind of site called moshimonsters.com, where you can adopt and raise your own monster.

I used to have a giga pet dog. I took very good care of it.
I still play neopets. |

They don't ever talk about Neopets on TV anymore. I don't know why.
