so did anyone else notice that on the bottom half of the "users online" list on the homepage there's a bunch of usernames that haven't posted in the forums or otherwise?

Yeah, I suspect these "new users" are spambots.

Yeah. They are spam registrations that I delete every day (well, every day that I get the opportunity). Thankfully, they seem incapable of spam forum posts. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that the forums here are not your standard issue forum software (like phpBB or VBulletin).
