Sometimes when you head out to eat you end up in a place that really sparks that feeling of nostalgia in you. Maybe it's because of the way it's designed and decorated, or maybe it's because you have fond memories of the place from your childhood. What are some restaurants that you've visited that really "throw you back".

The Shake Shoppe - Nostalgic because of memories and age.

Cracker Barrel - Nostalgic by design/decor

Nothing says "nostalgia" like Steak 'n Shake.

You know it, bud!

I like Tastee Freez buildings.

And while you can find Vienna Beef signs all around Chicago...

...few any more are attached to a classic burgers & dogs stand like Duk's.

But the most iconic of all might be

...where your food comes in a box like this:

I love their buffet.

Ahh, the Waffle House. A good old-fashioned American breakfast, lunch and dinner place.

Speaking of hot dogs, this little spot in Lesage, West Virginia is about an hour from me. I pass it on my way into Huntington (which happens whenever my wife gets the urge to shop, ).

It has been featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and also the Travel Channel's "101 Tastiest Places to Chow Down", coming in at #15.

Guy from Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives chows down on the joint's signature dog, The Homewrecker.

And yes, you can eat in the "bus". Inside, the walls, seats, tables... well, everything... is covered in signatures of folks who have eaten there.

I am no fan of Guy Fieri but that place does look totally awesome.
