I've heard some powerful female African American voices in my life. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and then there's Deniece Williams. Like so many female artists, this girl's got soul.

I remember that song very well. I had just graduated from BasicTraining 

back in 1976. Very appropriate song for how I felt at the time.

For some unknown reason I had Vanessa Williams in my head. Doh!
