I took my daughter to see The Super Mario Bros movie and it was an absolute blast from start to finish! You can tell it was made be people who love the videogames. I highly recommend it!

I've heard nothing but good things. Hollywood CAN still make the occasional worthwhile animated film it seems.

I preordered the steelbook box set that's exclusive to Wal-Mart, it was a very good movie. Just another case of "ignore what the critics said and see it for yourself". The voice acting imo was a bit spotty, some sound better than others.

Seth Rogen basically put no effort into making a unique voice and you can easily tell it's him lol. Chris Pratt was alright, not bad, not great, just alright. I think Jack Black stole the show though as Bowser.

I did like the bit of Nintendo references sprinkled throughout too, a Twitter post showed a bunch of references in one shot showing a picture of Glass Joe from Punch Out, an NES system in front of the Mario Bros.' TV, and one of the ducks from Duck Hunt was in a painting. I hope we get more promising animated adaptations like this in the future.

Plan on seeing it. Looks like Movie of the Year material.

I've never liked most Mario games except for the Kart series. I grew up with Sega so I don't have that nostalgic pull. But I'm sure the new movie is great for fans, which is pretty much everyone besides me, so I won't criticize it. I just know there won't be much in it for me.

I'll stick with the 1993 version, which I think is unironically great.

Quick question though: what did you think of Chris Pratt's Mario voice? I know that's been a big controversy ever since the cast was announced.

Thankfully the new movie doesn't have... well.... this.

Yikes, and I mean YIKES. Even with a lack of plot, the movie was made to celebrate Mario's legacy with Nintendo. It's like these critics missed the point of the whole movie.

Wow, I've watched dozens of reviews and they've been positive on the whole. The only point of contention has been the decision to separate the brothers for so much of the film's run time. It seems like an excuse to empower Princess Peach at the expense of the male leads. But overall the film gets high marks!

The movie was fantastic! The only reason why it doesn't have 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is because it doesn't have a Disney or Marvel logo next to it.
