What is everyone's new years resolutions for 2021? It's easy to brush these things off, but what about really formulating a plan for improvment and things you want to see accomplished? We can all come back to this thread next year and see how we did.

I have set ten major goals for myself this year:

Lose more weight, get below at least 250 lbs

Start working on a website for myself

Build a portfolio of my work thus far

Finish one of my novels

Start sending out manuscripts to publishers

Pay off more of my student debt

Buy a car

Move out on my own

Get my passport

Take my vacation to my hometown

Let's see what we can all accomplish this year by supporting each other!

can't think of much aside from providing more content for my youtube chanel. now that i'm at 1k subscribers i need to come up with more ideas to bring in an audience, and become eligible for getting paid for revenue by having enough viewers see my videos.

My resolution - no resolutions. Gotta Stay Flexible.

Like Ringo, I guess I'm a survivor. I'm 63 and Ringo is 80!

I'm part of the old guard marching into the sunset. I just want you guys around me as I grow old and gray:

I don't really like to call them resolutions, but every year on January first, I *do* list my accomplishment of the previous year and draft a list of goals for the new year. They're always fairly similar. Things like write more, read more, sculpt more, etc. I also usually have things on the list about getting stuff published, or sometimes completing a specific project I'm working on.

This year I also added to try and exercise more, since this this pandemic has seen me housebound a lot. More walks, bike rides, hiking.

Oh, and I always add "invest more," and usually up my contributions to retirement plan/investment accounts by a little bit.

That's a tricky one. Sometimes it's just better NOT to invest. I've heard it said to invest in YOURSELF... whatever that means.

I agree with that. Unfortunately, for my age (turning 41 tomorrow), I have essential no real retirement savings, having worked the past decade in a teaching job that provided no 401K or anything. So the past few years I've been trying to make up for it.

Of course, when I say "invest more," for me that unfortunately really only means like, an extra $50 a month into an IRA.

But yeah, as for "risky" investing, I don't do that at all. Hell, I wouldn't even know how. I do like the idea of investing in myself though!

We only recently started offering a 401k type of benefit, mainly because the job market required we do so if we wanted to attract anyone with some intention of sticking around for a while.

I'm in the same boat. Never had a job that offered a 401k, I have like 3k in it when my younger brother has like 70k in his from being a police officer for the last 5 or 6 years. Guess I'll be working for my robot foreman until 2054
