- Hall of Fame: For a while I've been trying to come up with some other way for members to contribute and earn points. Something more involved... not just uploading something to an image gallery. I had also been considering making ourselves the official site of a "hall of fame" of some kind.
The "Retro Hall of Fame". It occurred to me recently that I could combine these two ideas. It's taking shape as we speak... still figuring out some details before pitching this to Rakesh for development. Basically, this would be a feature that allows users to "nominate" a person, place, thing, or idea from the past for inclusion in the "Hall of Fame". A group of 5 of us (probably a mix of the oldest and most active members) would act as commissioners and we would approve or disapprove of these nominations via a similar function to that of our article approval/disapproval buttons (except only the 5 can use this function, and disapproval relegates the nomination to some other place, like a "Past Nominees" area or something). Each one approved would appear in the HoF gallery, with information, images, video, etc. Each member whose nomination is approved would receive a certain amount of points. Each vote cast on a nomination by one of the 5 would also receive a set amount of points, regardless of the actual vote. The members of this HoF commission would receive some kind of acknowledgement in their Profile/Forum posts, and so would any member who submitted a successful nomination. - Photog Smurf alive in 3D: Some weeks ago I reached out to a modeling/rigging outfit to quote me on creating a 3D representation of Photog Smurf. But not just for pretty pictures. Using Facerig, a webcam, and the LeapMotion controller, he can be brought to life for a variety of projects... most notably any future specials I want him to appear in (to be voiced by your's truly - albeit heavily modified in audio software).
