I have to agree with the headline of the article: who indeed was this for? Who was clamoring for A Rocky and Bullwinkle reboot?

yeah, not a fan of the use of modern phrases you see on the internet. i could see this appealing to kids younger than like 8 though.

It's really the way the characters are drawn that irks me.

I haven't watched it, but I don't think it looks all that bad. I'd much rather they go with this approach instead of trying to modernize it and make it as "hip" as possible, because that never ages well. Shame about no side characters/stories, though.
I wonder what Eddstar has to say about this? I miss that guy. The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

It's a popular animation style. I do like it better than the CGI ultra textured stuff that you see in, say, Super Mario Odyssey. Monsters Inc is one thing, but cartoon characters in general, do not need individual strands of hair, IMO. So at least this isn't that. I don't particularly care for it, same with the Adventure Time artist taking over Powerpuff Girls, but there's maybe something to be said for this.
Writing is a whole other story. Anything made for kids now is going to be questionable in its appeal to us adults, even if they're going for a market to us as well. That's a hard thing to do, cross generation or cross genre appeal, and takes above average creative talent. |
