For kids of the '90s, he's probably better known as Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story. For me personally, I'll always remember him for his appearances in several Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello films. Don would have an opinion about everybody and he even tailored his remarks to appear on television, on a regular basis too. Never forget that for Don Rickles' generation of comedians, the holy grail was a television show of your own. Fortunately, Don Rickles had many friends in the world of entertainment. From Frank Sinatra to Johnny Carson. With Don's kind of friends he always found a stage to voice his latest insults. His guest appearances on late night TV were legendary. And, of course, Don was a regular substitute host for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show. All the effort finally paid off when Don Rickles got his own TV series in 1976: "CPO Sharkey", on NBC. To be a close friend of Johnny Carson was a very special relationship.
