Number one in this category for me is definitely The Toxic Avenger. The low budget movie had many acts of extreme violence, as well as foul language and gratuitous nudity. Somehow, this got turned into a Saturday morning cartoon on a major network (featuring additional characters), which then spawned a Nintendo game and a Marvel comic book.
