it was okay, i'm surprised game informer liked it so much. but seeing jax start out with his prosthetic arms being super shrimpy at the start got some laughs out of me, like it looked that ridiculous.

yeah, quite a lot of mixed reviews for this one.

Does this mean Mortal Kombat 95 is still the best MK flick?

that's what most fans see so far, from what i saw they said they can get past the cheesy parts of it. the animated movie from last year, mortal kombat legends: scorpion's revenge has also kept a solid 90% on rotten tomatoes, so there's that.

Hoping to watch it sometime this week. I'm gonna lower expectations, I heard that there is no tournament and that it is more like a prequel that sets up a trilogy. They should have called it Mortal Kombat: Rise of Scorpion or something like that. 

all i can say is, when it gets good, it just goes downhill again. from what i heard warner brothers was a bit controlling with the development of it, and that's never a good sign....

He is hilarious! Overall, I would give the movie a C+. Honestly, I wasn't too bothered by Cole Young but I thought that the actor who played Liu Kang was trash. He gave me that Dragonball Evolution vibe that was mentioned earlier.

There is no "tournament" per se, that will allegedly be setup in a sequel. It's fairly low budget for an action blockbuster. They reuse every set and maybe should have paid the wig department a little more (looking at you Shang Tsung) but the movie still delivers on the action.

Sub Zero and Scorpion are great and there are lots of nods to fans of the franchise.

funnily enough, i've seen some people say that this mortal kombat installment was the dragon ball evolution equivalent of all MK movies.
