Because the words are easy to remember lol.<div><br><div><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1jgE-lrfZ3k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div></div> </i><b>-end quote</b></blockquote><br><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">After "Lost in Space" on CBS, "Batman" on ABC was THE most heavily promoted TV show of the 1960's.&nbsp;</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">I can post YouTube clips all day, and you guys still wouldn't get the full effect the ABC promo schedule had back in the day. ABC learned its lesson form CBS - run promos all day and every evening.</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">But no one has posted the "before air" promos of Batman from the summer of 1966. These early "sneak peek" promos had no music and no dialog from the show, only random scenes where you got only a glimpse of the caped crusader. Very mysterious and very well done.</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">I'm convinced it was the preview promos that generated the overwhelming response to Batman in its first season on ABC. Also each hour long episode was split into two half-hour airings on Wednesday and Thursday nights.&nbsp;</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">And the stage was set for the reception to the Batman theme.</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">The whole family watched the very first episode of Batman. My sister and I looked at each other in stunned confusion. "Where are the rest of the the theme lyrics?". Just singing "Batman" over and over wasn't good enough. But that was only the initial reaction.</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">I've talked about this on RetroJunk - the power of network broadcasting is the power of repetition.</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div>A strange thing happens when you hear that Batman theme 30 times a week! The comedy of the show seems to meld with the repeatable lyrics and, personally, I grew used to hearing that final <i>BATMAN!!!</i> scream from the theme.</div><div><br></div><div>Remember, promos ran all day, everyday. Even channel surfing you could run into the Batman song. It's hard to explain the effect of watching a morning game show, only to see a Batman promo during the commercial break. The music actually grows on ya!</div> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UMD12DLp3ZI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>eddstarrDec 11, 2016View

32145"Homer's Enemy": Did it break The Simpsons?I'd say around season 9 or 10 was where it started going downhill for me. After that I just got bored of it and wanted to see something else. There's only so long I can watch the same characters doing the same thing before it just gets boring.DirtyD79Dec 11, 2016View
