33962The Café

Rick Ace Rhodes wrote :
As a millennial myself, it's kind of a two sided issue to me. Millennials really aren't that great of a generation, but you also have to insert blame on the generation that raised them to be that way.

Perfect example: the participation trophy argument. We were the generation that received participation trophies and turned us into entitled brats, but the only reason we received participation trophies in the first place was because the adults around us.
-end quote

I pointed that out in a class full of Millennials. They got all defensive and pointed out that the participation trophies looked "way different" than the achievement ones.

The thing I don't like about the Baby Boomers is that they act like we live in their time. They say things like "When I graduated high school I got a job at the plant and worked there for 50 years." Except the plant is now closed, so nobody works there. "When I was your age I owned a house and bought a car for $7000. I was already married for 10 years and had 4 children."

The Gen-xers are no better; the snobby ones I've run into online get all haughty about being latch key kids. There were Baby Boomers latch key kids too although not as common as Gen-xers. They like to brag about being the family hero and about how much more hard working they are than Baby Boomers and Millennials. I remember the first retro themed message board I belonged to (not RJ) Most of the members on there were Gen-xers they were so elitist. All they ever talked about was Magic Sand, the Sunshine Family dolls, and tv from the 1970s.
pikachuloverFeb 23, 2017View
