Fast forward almost a year and I watched it on a whim, and it was excellent. A very loose retelling of how the circus began, and the story is infused with modern pop to keep it lively. Great music segments and a few really catchy tunes. If you enjoyed Chicago, Singing in the Rain or any classical musicals, you might want to see this.</div><div><br></div><div>4/5</div> </i><b>-end quote</b></blockquote>I hate musicals, but The Greatest Showman was pretty decent. It is just so hard to watch somebody burst into song in the middle of a scene. It seems so forced and goofy. But yeah, TGS was worth the watch. </i><b>-end quote</b></blockquote>Haha yeah, I agree. 39549Last Movie You WatchedTook a brief hiatus from posting about my MCU marathon as I didn't want to spam posts, so I'll post mini-reviews for the last movies I've watched.<div><br></div><div>Captain America: The First Avenger</div><div><br></div><div>Chris Evans was perfect for the role of the First Avenger and the transition from a scrawny wimp to super soldier seemed so real that you could almost forgot that it was done with CGI. The best performance, however, goes to Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. The pacing was a bit slow at times during the second half, but the action sequences, as usual, were excellent. I put it below Iron Man and Thor, but still an enjoyable superhero film.</div><div><br></div><div>3.5 out of 5.</div><div><br></div><div>The Avengers</div><div><br></div><div>Arguably the best out of all the Marvel Cinematic Movies. It features an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki), a lot of funny quotes ("Doth mother know you wear-eth her drapes?", "I said...KNEEL!", and "Puny god." come to mind) and I don't think there will ever be a climatic battle in any film like the battle between the Avengers and the Chitauri in New York. I highly recommend it.</div><div><br></div><div>5 out of 5.</div><div><br></div><div>Iron Man 3</div><div><br></div><div>The third entry in the Iron Man trilogy (soon to be a quadrilogy, since they confirmed Iron Man 4). An improvement over the second film, but not as good as the first. Robert Downey Jr once again shines as Tony Stark aka the Iron Man, and we had a much better villain this time around than we did in the second film (Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin). Also, seeing Pepper defeat the Mandarin... badass.</div><div><br></div><div>3.5 out of 5.</div><div><br></div><div>Thor: The Dark World</div><div><br></div><div>The weakest film out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe IMO. We don't see much character development, and the villain Malekith was underwhelming. However, the performances were as usual great and the visual effects were stunning.</div><div><br></div><div>3 out of 5.</div><div><br></div><div>Captain America: The Winter Soldier</div><div><br></div><div>The Marvel Cinematic Universe had previously suffered from Weaker Sequel Syndrome with Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, however, was much better than the first Captain America film. Admittedly, the first film had the better villain, but this film had a better storyline. Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johannson and Chris Evans as usual gave out incredible performances and the chemistry between the three was believable. The Winter Soldier was also badass in every scene he was in. Another fantastic edition to the MCU and a huge improvement over The First Avenger.</div><div><br></div><div>5 out of 5</div><div><br></div><div>Guardians of the Galaxy</div><div><br></div><div>This movie is like the Star Wars of our generation. Chris Pratt portrays the unlikely savior of the galaxy, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, an eccentric gunslinger much like Han Solo, and joined by him are a green-skinned skilled assassin (no racism intended) Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Joe Bautista), who seeks revenge for the murder of his family, the foul-mouthed Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and his sidekick Groot (Vin Diesel) as they try to protect the galaxy from the threat of the evil Ronan the Accuser. Definitely in my top 5 MCU films.</div><div><br></div><div>5 out of 5</div><div><br></div><div>Phew, that was a doozy!</div>MichelangeloApr 18, 2018View
