990ArticleMissMpikachulover, I remember getting some Tiny Toons valentine cards. I loved them so much. I really miss Tiny Toons. That was such a great show. Now Marsupilami sounds interesting, I'm not really recalling it. Vaporman, yeah, these images are totally from Jim Lee's art in the comics. lol How did the search go for any Godzilla Valentine's Day cards? I'm sure they had to have had them.  Feb 08, 2014View
992ArticleThe Trash ManGodzilla-themed Valentine's do exist. I remember stumbling upon a box of them at a dollar-store back when I lived in L.A [this was, uh, 2005/2006?]. I have no idea what happened to them, but there was also a sheet of stickers included that I used to "decorate" my name-badge at work. Moth-ah-raaaa..!For the Love of V-Day! Part 2Feb 10, 2014View

1002ArticleIllustratorErikI remember I found a set of Animated Series X-Men Valentines at a Goodwill store once. Whats weird is that the cards only had picture of the characters posing, no message or hearts or anything, just a basic "To: and From:" on the back. I'm almost certain that the art was recycled from some trading card game. However, that made it easier to paste all the cards onto a board to make a sort of makeshift poster for my room. 977ArticleVaporman87Sweet! I love all these old ads. It's strange how obvious it is to us, when we see some of these, what time period these are from. EVERYTHING... from the colors and content, to the clipart and design, are almost painfully 80s. And I love it. It surprises me that marketing companies have not caught up with manufacturers, the film industry, and the gaming industry, in bringing back what worked in the 80s and 90s. One would think that having the attention of our demographic through our desire to feel nostalgia would be a great thing for marketing. Maybe that's why I'm not a marketer though. :D I always liked the gaming ads of the 80s and early 90s. They tended to try and add some form of realism to the game via the casting and photographing of somebody wearing similar clothes to the main character of the game doing some exaggerated pose. 981ArticlepikachuloverI remember Kissing Koolers. They weren't that great for a lip product. I remember I saw some for sale in a catalogue and begged my mom to buy me one. Rad Retro Ads Feb 07, 2014View
984ArticlevkimoI forgot to mention it, but the MOTU ad at the top was pretty shameless in exploiting a mother's love for her child. "While he's still a child"?!Rad Retro Ads Feb 08, 2014View
985ArticleVaporman87I noticed in that ad, that Zodac is hanging out in Snake Mountain with the baddies. They apparently were dividing them up based on the titles given them by Mattel, and not by the roles they played on the cartoon. Rad Retro Ads Feb 08, 2014View
