1371ArticleVaporman87Beautiful read. I really feel the spirit of Halloween now! As for poor Steve, I can relate. I recall that, one year, I (by myself) decorated the pathway from our driveway to our door and prepared to scare trick-or-treaters (as opposed to actually trick-or-treating myself), only to find that barely anyone wanted to make the long walk up our driveway to our house. I feel Steve's pain. Living here in Rutland, we are WELL aware of when trick-or-treating starts and stops, because the fire department's siren sounds to begin and end the event. There is no mistaking when you're DONE, and the residents get to chow down on their own remaining sweets. I have to say, I love the layout of this piece. Just love it. It sucks that search engines won't find it because it's an image (well, unless they're LOOKING for an image of course) but it's like finding treasure... those who do find it will be very happy they did. Thanks a bunch for a great read vkimo. You never disappoint. Oct 04, 2014View
2492ArticleVaporman87Beautifully written story, onipar (though one would expect it to be so; you being an author). The plight of a childhood spent someplace like Brooklyn is about as unfamiliar to me as such a thing could be. But the fear of a local bully is pretty universal, so I can relate to this story. I love these lines - "...lifting him off the ground and encasing him in clam-stank..." "...he was probably just late for a midday stabbing at the park..." Thanks for sharing!A Flurry of Hadoukens and ShoryukensAug 10, 2015View

3643ArticleVaporman87Before the disastrous server screw up with KnownHost, there was a forum thread in which I ranted about the new comic. I too am a big M.A.S.K. fan (probably my favorite toy line/cartoon of the past, second only to Masters of the Universe. I was anticipating a revival of everything familiar, only to see that a lot of things had been changed. I think the straw that broke the camel's back for me was changing Matt Trakker into an African-American. If the writers wanted to make the property more diverse, more power to them. But do it with a NEW character! Don't go making major changes to the old ones. Make your new leader a disciple of the original Matt Trakker, or a friend... or anything but the actual Matt Trakker! Understand that my sense of aversion to these types of changes are heightened because of the world we live in now, with it's precious snowflake infested safe spacer political correctness running amok. Not to mention I found this out around the same time I was finding out that Iron Man was now a young woman of color. What?! So yeah, the changes that were made to the characters and their stories/motivations were too great for me to overcome, and in my view totally unnecessary (kinda like an all female Ghostbusters movie). The Rebirth of M.A.S.K. and the Nostalgia StruggleDec 31, 2016View

2921ArticleNLoganBeing a Utah kid We have also journeyed to far off Graves in the dead of night. The Moritz grave was one of them. My dad said originally there was a ruby colored pane of glass and when the face came to the window it was actually your distorted reflection in the candlelight. Another thing kids do there is walk backwards on the small border stones until they fall off, giving them the years they have left. I have seen the weeping woman of Logan cemetery, the weeping woman of Spanish Fork, the car headstone since removed from Payson cemetery, and memory grove among others. One of the coolest cemeteries is just outside Ophir or Mercury can't remember which that is about 50 yards off the roadway leading to an old mining town. It has or had a little fence and upright pioneer era headstones that were crumbling. Urban Legend visit of my youth-revisitedOct 14, 2015View
