2536ArticleoniparYeah, same here. Trading was my favorite, but something that only occurred a few times. Thanks so much too, I'm glad you enjoyed them! Aug 17, 2015View
2535ArticleoniparOh nice! That's kinda of amazing that it actually exists! :-)A New Kind of ArcadeAug 17, 2015View
2534ArticleoniparThanks, Hoju! Yeah, the arcade bullies were the worst. I have probably a couple more stories about that sort of thing.A Flurry of Hadoukens and ShoryukensAug 17, 2015View
2533ArticleHoju KoolanderSaturdays were all about TV for me (but then again, so was every other day). X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman on FOX Kids, then switch over to ABC for Cow-Boys of Moo-Mesa or The Addams Family cartoon, maybe try out an episode of Saved By The Bell: The New Class on NBC, before switching back to FOX for WMAC Masters and getting my wrestling fix from WWF Superstars. If I did go outside it was just a trip to my favorite comic book store, that was the true Saturday destination. After all, you needed an hour or more to browse all the back issues.A Mid-90's Saturday With c_b_fAug 16, 2015View
2532ArticleHoju KoolanderEpic and great narrative structure. Video game bullies were something I encountered as well, growing up. They always approach you as if you did something to offend them, when all you were doing was playing a game alone. In my case, the guy brought 5 of his buddies back to intimidate me and I got out of that skating rink in a hurry. I wish the magic of Street Fighter II could have melted my bully's heart as well.A Flurry of Hadoukens and ShoryukensAug 16, 2015View
2531ArticleHoju Koolander@onipar Actually, I just found a "video game bar" out here in Arizona that has that exact set-up. You must have willed it into existence!A New Kind of ArcadeAug 16, 2015View
2530ArticleHoju KoolanderI have loved your whole series of childhood stories from Brooklyn. So relatable, yet the East Coast setting makes it feel more exotic. Cool older kids who were bored with their possessions were a great source for not only video games, but action figures, comics and more. Though when it came to Nintendo, I definitely did more playing at friends houses than trading, since my own collection was pretty sparse.A Summer QuestAug 16, 2015View
2529ArticleHoju KoolanderIt's great to have both brothers contributing now, especially since it sounds like your retro-interests are closer to mine than Benjanime's (he's a fine writer, I just can't relate to his articles most of the time). Though I'm much too aware of my comic book collecting, it love the idea of finding a secret stash I forgot about. As a dedicated fan of all the Robin's in my youth, A Death In The Family is one of my favorites as well and it paved the way for my favorite Robin, Tim Drake. I am actually just reading The Killing Joke for the first time right now and man, is it twisted. I'll be curious to see the animated version, since they did a pretty good job being faithful to The Dark Knight Returns. Looking forward to more articles from you, maybe about your action figure collecting? The Cereal Box in the ClosetAug 16, 2015View
2528ArticleHoju KoolanderThe greatest reveal you provided for me was the Dennis the Menace and Phil Hartman connection. I used to watch that cartoon all the time, but I never realized the same actor I enjoyed as Cap'n Karl on The Pee-Wee Herman show/Pee-Wee's Playhouse was voicing Mr. Wilson! The error on the Ghostbusters fact threw me for a second, but it did remind me that in an interview with Ernie Hudson, who played Winston in the movies, he said that he auditioned for the role on the cartoon, but the part went to Arsenio instead. Isn't that crazy?Little Known Facts About 25 of Your Favorite 80's Cartoons!Aug 16, 2015View
2527Articlekstrom22Stewart Copeland also had a hand in another beloved franchise, though this was video games: he did the music for the original Spyro the Dragon Trilogy. I love how descriptive Japanese titles can be. The Japanese title for "Despicable Me" is "Mysterious Thief Gru’s Moon Theft," and the title of "Being John Malkovich" is "John Malkovich's Hole"...errr Fun article, I love learning about things from my time and earlier.Little Known Facts About 25 of Your Favorite 80's Cartoons!Aug 16, 2015View
