3169ArticlepikachuloverThat sounds like a really fun play set. And thanks.  Dec 10, 2015View
3168ArticlemickyarberOn the flip side, I always looked forward to (and still do) the family Christmas parties. With so many cousins, we just drew names and none of the gifts were expensive. You may end up wanting what someone else got, but only because it looked cool and not because it was more expensive that who you had gotten. Fun article. What a Stuffy Party! Dec 10, 2015View

3166ArticlemickyarberI used to love those Christmas parties at school with the gift exchanges. I can remember a couple of things I got from them. Probably the coolest thing I got was a Fall Guy playset. It was a truck that you pulled back and let go and it would run on it's own. It came with a Lee Majors figure in a pose with his arms up in the air, and it also came with, I think, a traffic light. You would put Lee Majors standing in the back of the truck, and run it towards the traffic light. When it went under it, the figures hands would grab the pole and hang on while the truck kept going. It was a really well designed toy that really fit the theme of the Fall Guy show, where Lee played a Hollywood stunt man. Fun article.A Mature Gift ExchangeDec 10, 2015View
3165ArticlemickyarberI'm not an overly big fan of horror movies, so I've not watched nearly as many as others probably have, but I did see Silent Night, Deadly Night one time. I was traveling with my Dad and we watched it in a motel. Scared the crap out of me when I was about 9.Top 5 Favorite Christmas Horror MoviesDec 10, 2015View
3164ArticlekidcoffeeI'm happy to report that on the trip home, true to her word, my mother purchased me my very first Atari. There were very strict rules about its use ie only on weekends and I had to prove my homework was done, but otherwise I was now free to game. We were free to game I should say as both of my parents got in on the action with me. I don't remember a time I've seen my father so happy as when he was playing Pac-Man. He wasn't very good at it, but man he loved to play. As for my mother's aversion I did ask. She blames an article in Woman's Day which stated that video games are responsible for tearing apart families. I'm not sure I buy it especially seeing that my mother never read Woman's Day, but thankfully her hatred was short lived. As for the Greeks, I know. That's all I'll say about that. Overall it was one of the most memorable Christmases I've ever had. Well actually there was one other, but I'll save that one for next year. One last aside, I forgot to add in that I also illustrated my my cover photo. Not a big deal, but I did want to mention it. Anyway thank you for the kind words!!!Perfect GameDec 10, 2015View
3163Articleechidna64Nice article! A video game marathon is a great way to take advantage of all the free time. When everyone is home for a holiday my brothers and I usually do a 24-hour LAN party. However, you might have sparked a new controversy this contest- is it retro? The Post-Christmas Video Game MarathonDec 10, 2015View
3162ArticleVaporman87That was awesome. Great story, MarshMellow. Welcome to RD, by the way. This was a joy to read. Really well written and fun the whole way through. I can't imagine what that final "boom" must have been like. I think I would have stuck to eating Special Dark bars with my Squiggle Wiggle tattooed hands while playing the Nintendo from a previous year after that. Expl-ho-ho-ho-sionDec 10, 2015View
3161ArticleVaporman87Yes! What a great memory to have. Such a great story. Isn't it amazing how something so trivial can mean the difference between happiness and sorrow? What was it that made your mother so "anti-gaming"? Was she devoutly religious, or just wary of "newfangled" things? Did you end up getting that Atari 2600? If so, how did that go over in the weeks and months following? Why do Greeks think they're all that? LOL (Not a real question) Thanks for sharing this Kid C. It was stellar.Perfect GameDec 10, 2015View
